Book Excerpt

The teenage years of life. This is the time in life that every child is looking forward to. It is the time when children feel as though they are not babies anymore. As a teenager, you are ready to make your own decisions and do not need so many orders from your parents or guardians. Life is good, and you are invincible. There is nothing wrong that can happen to you because everything that is going on feels great! It is your life, and you are free to live it as you please. In all actuality, being a teenager is the exact opposite of what you actually believe or think. During the teenage years, you need the most guidance to get through this life than any other. As a teenager, you will be faced with many circumstances and situations that you have never seen before. As a teenager you will see how temptation works to distract you from doing what is right. Having friends and being popular is an issue that can cause a good person to turn bad, as peer pressure has a strong effect over teenagers’ lives. The curiosity that is associated with the teenage years usually leads to experimenting with drugs. The emotions that come with being “in love” with that special boy or that special girl in dating can lead to participating in sexual activities. If teenagers are not careful and feel as though they must be accepted by everyone, when the time comes when they are not accepted, this could lead to a feeling of depression which will bring about other problems. These are all circumstances and situations that will be discussed along in the text.
