As a mother watching my child lying there day after day, night after night, with machines keeping him alive, I felt totally helpless. This was one fight I could not fight for him to fight to live. I did not know if he could hear me but I did know that my love for him would endure and I would do everything in my power to see that he had the best chance possible of surviving this catastrophic accident. I had to hold on to hope that my son would live. I refused to allow the machines that were keeping him alive to be turned off. I could not give up hope.

Being a Registered Nurse over 40 years, with many skilled in Emergency medication and critical care, which I had taken care of many patients from motorcycle and vehicle accidents in the past. I could not care for my son, I had to allow the skills and talents of many Physicians, nurses, respiratory therapist, etc to take care of my child. For I was emotionally frozen and had to allow others to care for Joshua. I would watch him day and night for over 40 days, and daily there were emergency surgery, or countless other testing to be done.
