Book Details

Do you ever wonder what dogs think about life?

Ted E Bear, a Yorkshire Terrier, opens the story by explaining that he is quite contented being an only dog, living with his humans. All is well until his humans decide that he is probably lonesome and needs a pal. Without even a hint, they bring home a pal for him; a one pound Maltese puppy named Miss Velvet Too. Although Ted E Bear is normally a really cool dog whose feathers don’t ruffle, he is quite put out with this new addition to the family. He immediately asserts himself as alpha dog and Miss Velvet complies. Or does she? The story parallels with the events told from each dog’s side. The reader has a chance to follow along as the adventures of Ted E Bear and Miss Velvet Too unfold to tell a very touching story of acceptance, love, and loss. This short story is appealing to young readers and adults. Take a magical ride with Ted E Bear and Miss Velvet Too. They welcome you aboard!

Book Excerpt

(From Miss Velvet Too's side) "The first few days I really worked my magic. I played with all my new toys. I paper trained right away. I came when I was called and sat still to be picked up. Ted and I became close, almost inseparable. But I had an ulterior motive. My goal was to become top dog, who would also require much more attention. I began working my plan.First, in order to get a little power over Mommy and Daddy, I refused to eat out of my bowl. The only way I would eat was if i was hand fed. Yes , that's right, hand fed. And you know what? That's how I was fed. When my veterinarian suggested that my food be presented for a period of time and then removed, I began to sweat. I thought for a moment that they would follow her suggestion, but I didn't need to worry; after all, they had "oohed" and "aahed" over me. To them I was still the cute, tiny girl from the pet store."
