50 years ag, it was like this...if you're 10 years old and living on Cape Cod

IMAGINE having to grow up without video games — or for that matter, without even a television. With all the technological advances and virtually created images that are just accepted in todays culture, who needs imagination? Well grab your imagination and jump into the world when creativity was required and everyday activities became adventures. Being children on Cape Cod during the middle 20th century brought its special challenges and rewards — ultimately, a vivid imagination and a whole lot of pure fun. Let yourself go and relive those special times in GROWING UP CAPE COD.

Book Excerpt

From: 1954; "The Plashes"

What do you do when you're 9 years old in the middle of winter and it's 10 degrees outside on "Ole Cape Cod?" You didn't want to bike anywhere because by the time you got somewhere, your eyes would be frozen open. Your closest friend's home was 3 miles away and most parents wanted advanced notice for visiting playmates. There was something special, though, if the weather had been cold enough long enough. That was ice skating at the Plashes.
