LUCILA “LUCKY” GARDINER SABÍN arrived alone in the United States on January 3, 1961, leaving behind parents and relatives and later reunited with some of them. She joined E.I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company in Wilmington, Delaware. She met her husband Francisco “Paco” Sabín the first day he came to work for Du Pont, fell in love at first sight, a few months later got married, and will soon celebrate their diamond jubilee. She relocated with her husband’s assignments with General Electric to multiple locations and lived in Washington, D.C.; Geneva, Switzerland; San Jose, California; Westport, Connecticut; Milan, Italy; and Epping, New Hampshire where they settled for many years and they will soon be moving back to Wesport, Connecticut! Lucila also worked for Richardson Vicks, Westport, CT; Heidelberg Harris, Dover, NH; and University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH. She enjoys knitting, oil painting, traveling, reading, and is active with church activities. They have three happily married children and six grandchildren, their pride and joy. Most of all, she loves being the matriarch of her family!
