Dr. Rita Smith is a retired corporate executive. As a Baby Boomer professional woman, she personally experienced the unexpected and unique challenges the retirement transition brings to this first generation of women professional retirees. In her re-imagined retirement, Dr. Smith is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Management at the University of North Carolina Charlotte and Executive Retirement Coach. Prior to this new life stage, she spent 30+ years in senior Human Resources positions within global corporations. While climbing the male-oriented career ladder (in high heels), she obtained her master’s in Business Administration and doctorate in Adult Education and Human Resource Development. She is an accredited Professional Certified Coach, with additional certifications in retirement coaching. She spends her free time creating art and enjoying the mountains with her husband, Steve.
