Looking Back From Nowhere

This collection of early poems is a mixture of styles influenced by e.e. cummings, Ezra Pound, Sylvia Plath, Octavio Paz and others. The poems paint a panorama of passion, cruelty, and despair. Ultimately, they are an attempt to find meaning in this tumultuous existence by examining both the redeeming and the disturbing facets of everyday life. The author, having struggled his way through a wide range of economic, social, and emotional experiences, takes an intense philosophical approach to dissecting the fabric of one’s life. In so doing, he provides a unique view into people’s flawed hearts, bringing their darkness to verse.

About the Author

Damian Nesdore

After receiving his master’s degree, Damian Nesdore has been a mathematician, a teacher in El Salvador, an editor for major publishing houses, and a publisher of magazines. He has written for numerous newspapers and magazines, has been published in poetry folios, and several of his plays have been produced including “A Herd of Hogs,” which won first place in the Philadelphia Writers’ Conference. Most recently, his play “The Director” was shortlisted for the annual BBC radio play competition. An accomplished musician, he played for the 4th Infantry Division Army Orchestra, sang in several operas, and performs on the piano. He also brings to his oil painting the same passion for exploring the conflicted human heart that inspires his poetry. A detail from his painting “Despair” appears on the cover of this folio.
