Confederate Yankee Book II The Gathering Storm

Major Stuart, back from the surrender of Fort Sumter, is sent to Virginia by General Samuel Cooper to do an independent report of that state’s assets and readiness to join the Confederacy. On his way, he and Sgt. Major Thompkins are ordered by President Davis to investigate a strange incident in the sky in South Carolina. While there, Stuart enlists the services of an old friend. Once in Virginia, they meet with Major General R E Lee and then set out across that state from the Appalachian Mountains in the rebellious west to the Atlantic coast in the east; the outskirts of Washington DC to the North Carolina border. They survey the Tredegar Iron Works, Harpers Ferry Arsenal and the Gosport Navy Yard. They return to Montgomery just in time to assist with moving the Government, including President Davis, to the new Capital of Richmond as the Confederate States continue to grow and prepare for war.....
