Book Details

A New Cat Detective for Mystery Lovers!

Shrieking and howling with fright in a makeshift cage, Mo arrived with police escort at Cats Pause Feline Shelter. In the quiet wine country township of Seven Oaks, Oregon, where a dramatic event is beating a parking ticket or recovering a wobbling goblet of pinot noir, Mo’s ‘mum’ has been murdered! Suddenly orphaned and facing life as a shelter cat, Mo enlists new-found shelter feline friends, Phillip, Edward and Diana, to help find mum’s killer. Mo, though, must keep a secret she feels will bring harm to her new friends, so she teams up with shelter director, Kate Ferguson, to uncover who did the dreadful deed. Kate and Mo investigate why a group of California investors is secretly trying to acquire valuable vineyard land. Through links with the community and the local police, they discover the intent of the buy-up is to rezone the farmlands to develop mega-housing, and destroy the delicate ecosystem and wine producing promise of the Jory Hills AVA. A surprise discovery leads them down a path of intrigue and betrayal; by exposing the plot to ruin the land, they expose the murderer.

About the Author

Maureen Murphy Williams

Maureen Murphy Williams’ cat detective novels are inspired by Morgan (Mo), who spent three years in a feline shelter awaiting her furr-ever home. Maureen’s passion for animals, especially the feline variety, and her love of the wine country are paired to bring a new flavor to the cat mystery genre. Maureen resides in Portland, Oregon with Miss Morgan and with three other rescued cats, Mona, Mac and Murphy, portrayed in Seven Oaks as the domesticated feral family of Commissioner George King.
