Tony Metze earned a B.A. from Wofford College, a Master of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1985 and is currently Senior Pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia, South Carolina. He, along with Ken Thomas, began hiking in 1996 and as time passed more men joined them in their adventures. This book, “Blazing Faith,” is the result of eighteen years of backpacking with these Christian men and their joys and challenges. Together they hiked the Foothills Trail, Bartram Trail, Appalachian Trail and every available spur trail in the Southeast. He has published a devotional book entitled “Jesus- Forty Days with the Transforming Power of the Messiah,” and a synopsis of a dissertation written on leadership entitled “Questioning Christian Leadership,” both available in kindle and paperback at www.amazon.com. He is married to the former Christina Kepley who works as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Their daughter, Melanie, is currently serving as Director of Christian Education at St. Peter Lutheran Church. They have identical twin sons, Mark and Christopher, both pursuing careers in ordained ministry.
