Book Details

An easy-to-follow textbook for basic skills

Basic Skills Review provides clear instruction and easy-to follow exercises for adults who have not graduated from high school but who want to upgrade their education or apply for work. The author has purposely avoided including information that is so difficult that it might discourage students who need to build confidence in order to succeed.

Each lesson is written from a practical viewpoint. For example, mathematics exercises include making change and figuring a tip. Lessons on applying for a job include paying attention to appearance and developing social skills.

The book is presented in three sections: Part I reviews basics of reading, writing, and mathematics. Part II covers general social skills such as introductions, phone courtesy, and conversation starters. Part III introduces the student to using writing and communication skills on the job and developing awareness of work ethics and character.
