Book Excerpt

"My full call came however at an intercessors’ retreat in Jamaica, March 17-20, 1990. Esther Ilnisky was the guest speaker. I was called with a few other leaders to a meeting on the first night in which we were asked to assist in ministry the following morning. I left the meeting disturbed and wondering why I was included because only hours before coming to the retreat I was battling with God; not feeling worthy; tired of my struggles with the flesh; disappointed that I had not had some breakthroughs, especially in my mind, which I had been asking God to do for years. I did not feel prepared in any way to assist but something inside kept telling me not to run away; instead, to just keep talking to God and being truthful as I had been. The following morning, Esther called us back together. I felt a little more settled as I had gotten up early to walk the grounds and talk with God. ... The morning’s session started shortly after and Esther did her usual “Do And Teach” session on intercession. At a particular point in the meeting she stopped and asked us to keep declaring “Freedom”. We declared it repeatedly. Suddenly, something hit me. The Holy Spirit came upon me and I felt like a drunken man! No kidding…rocking and stumbling but not falling. When all this ‘strange’ feeling was over, apart from feeling physically weak, I felt the consuming fire of God all over me and it stayed with me for a long time."
