Book Details

This is a book filled with everyday blogs about the ups and downs of life, dealing with relationships, addictions and parenting, and how I overcame some of those challenges and was able to find my hope along the way. It taught me that everything always has a way of working out and that by putting my trust and faith in a loving, merciful and forgiving God I can get through anything.

“A Place for Hope” is a collection of a few seasons of my journey written over the course of several years about real life experiences and how my hope and faith guided me to stay on the path during those challenges. My hope is to encourage and help others who struggle and face some of these tough battles that I have survived in my own walk. I added a scripture with each entry and included several lines to allow you to journal your own journey as well. I know this book will inspire you as much as it has myself by sharing my story and how I was able to overcome some of them.

About the Author

Judy Karan Bell

Judy is from a deep southern Alabama culture where her mother raised her in church since birth. She was taught and experienced early the love of Jesus in her heart. A survivor of abandonment, her alcoholic father was torn away from her too young. Her mother remarried a verbally and physically abusive man, and Judy turned to acceptance, to a crowd who was damaged a lot like her. She was a twelve year old regular drinker and user of whatever else would numb the pain. By 18 she had attempted suicide a couple times and was put in a hospital several months for depression. She survived several abusive marriages, and also lost two fingers. God delivered her at 31 years of age. She has been clean and sober since and has a heart for those who hurt, and has been called to share her hope and life that has been given back to her. Judy started to write as a young teenager and in 2014 published her book, “Eyes of a Wounded Heart”, 40 years of her poetry. She has been working in the nursing field since 1975, and psyche and addiction since 1980. She has been involved in inner city ministries, taught a Women’s small group, taught junior high girls Sunday school, did crisis care ministry and evangelism for over 10 years. Judy presently works in adult mental health and with addiction.
