Book Details

The work of Herodotus preserves the truth for future generations that Parsi and Persi are two different words.

The Medes were an ancient group who established the Median Dynasty in Iran (from around 700 BC to 550 BC), which then merged into the Achaemenid Dynasty, a Persian dynasty by origin that lasted till around 330 BC. But the Medes did not leave any written sources, and there have been several attempts by historians and archeologists to solve the mystery of which language they spoke.

About the Author

Dr. Babak Dehghani

Dr. Babak Dehghani proposes that the data was divided into two segments. One segment was recorded in the work of Herodotus’s Histories, and the second segment was inscribed in archeological sites in Iran. This method endowed the flexibility to design each of these documents with dual features—a superficial feature that would serve the interest of the public at that time, and a profound feature that would preserve the data for future generations.
