A tale of deadly obsession that knows absolutely no boundaries.

Every life is a book. Some become bestsellers; others linger on bookstore shelves, collecting dust. Mike Bonilla’s life started out as a dust collector—that is, until he met the woman who would become the best and the worst thing to happen to him. Mike’s story begins in 1961, when his well-to-do Cuban family is forced to flee Castro’s island prison and take refuge in America. A Long Way From Havana covers the universal experience of exile in a foreign land from the viewpoint of a young boy who is suddenly yanked from his coddled childhood into a harsh existence where nothing is familiar, including the language. Mike is forced to adapt in order to survive—but will the cost of success in his new life shatter his concept of decency and morality? I had always thought of myself as a good person, one with moral boundaries that could not be crossed under any circumstances. I firmly believed in doing the right thing no matter the consequences. In fact, I know now that I am no better, and probably much worse, than most. A literary gem packing a hefty emotional punch, A Long Way From Havana will leave readers examining their own moral compasses and obsessions.
