About the Author

Dr. Baomi Watson

Dr. Baomi is a singer, teacher, writer, composer, actress, director, playwright, and believer.

She began her travels in the 80's singing on tour with Harry Belafonte-- musician, philanthropist, and civil rights activist. The tour included cities in the mid-west, much of Canada, Cuba, and Germany.

Dr. Baomi began writing "Along the Way: An Inspirational Handbook for Life's Journey" while keeping a daily "spiritual journal." Physical challenges have made her seek a closer relationship with Spirit (Mother God-Father); strengthening her abiding trust in an omniscient, loving God.

Baomi's solo tours included time spent in Copenhagen, Denmark, Japan, and West Africa. In Africa, Dr. Baomi attended churches and conferences to study the African roots and continuum of gospel music. In Copenhagen she experienced the reach and influence of jazz as a vocalist with a local Danish jazz band; performed on television with the Danish Radio Big Band; and shared the bill with Dizzy Gillespie at the famed Montmartre.

Dr. Baomi is married with two adult children and four-plus grandchildren. Hobbies include playing the piano and coloring mandalas.

Dr. Baomi has a Ph.D. in African American Studies with a specialization in Black women and Sacred Music traditions.
