Sigma Phi Sigma fraternity is affiliated with William Penn University, established in 1873, and located in Oskaloosa, Iowa. A Lion, A Handshake, and A Key chronicles the fraternity’s history and celebrates its alumni and accomplishments. The fraternity was the first on campus and has had a presence for some 60 years. It was founded on four principles that have been demonstrated throughout its history:

• Build lifelong friendships
• Develop a social life and social activities on campus
• Promote school spirit
• Serve the community

Each brother has a story; many are included here and are both hysterical and heartwarming.

 

About the Author

Andy Davidson

Andy Davidson helped start the Sigma Phi Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association in 1992. He received his B.A. from William Penn University and his M.S. Edu. from Viterbo University. Davidson was a longtime teacher and coach in Iowa. He is a member of the Iowa Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, Iowa High School Hall of Fame, the William Penn University Athletic Hall of Fame, the William Penn University Hall of Fame for Distinguished Service and the Ed Thomas Coaching Award. In addition, he is a NCAA Div. III All-American in wrestling and Iowa state champion wrestling coach. He has served on the William Penn University alumni council since 2012 and the Sigma Phi Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association, Inc. since its inception. Davidson and his wife Lea currently live in Cape Coral, Florida. He enjoys writing, woodworking, golf, sunshine, and visits from friends.
