Book Excerpt

Al is a quick golfer. If your ball is lost, he’ll give you three minutes, never more, to find it. With this being the case, Mark and I started to get concerned when four, and then five minutes passed with no sign of Joe or Al. Now, you may be wondering why Mark and I were still in our cart. Well, the “Al’s Rules of Golf” prohibit a player from assisting his opponent in locating a lost ball. Being Al’s opponents for the round, we sat and waited.

We were tempted to break the rule when, at the seven minute mark, Joe emerged from the woods. He walked out alone and…he was still smiling. Mark and I looked at each other in disbelief. Was there something red dripping from the head of Joe’s 3-iron? How would we explain that the boss went missing playing golf? What did Joe do with his body and how were we going to protect our friend?

About the Author

Michael A. Rascona

As a fellow hacker, I have spent numerous hours floundering in sand traps, wading through water hazards and getting lost in the rough looking for my errant drives. I have also sought peace and serenity while pulling most of the hair out of my balding scalp trying to imitate the swing of my favorite PGA player. But along the way, I have encountered some strange characters with stories that must be shared with my fellow hackers!
