ABOUT ANDRE et al. is more than a book about a boy. It is about his father’s family and how a tragic event during its first year ended what was a happy and promising start. It is about how a decision to relocate and gamble on a career that he was ill-prepared for led to an austere life though happy and healthy it was. Andre and his eleven siblings were brought up in a small town in northern Maine living in isolation from any major population center. And yet, and because of strict upbringing that called for interdependence and hard work, they evolved into being well-adjusted, productive citizens. It is also about Andre’s own family, a new generation, and its moments of joys and sorrows.
