A children’s book for adults or an adult’s book for children

The Wonderful world of Corkle is an imaginary trip to a fanciful island where magical beings, called Porple, await the opportunity to help humans overcome their self-made problems. These characters point out the private traps that we set up for ourselves, and how we might find our way to happiness and fulfillment through self-examination. The poems and fables in The Wonderful World of Corkle are great material for reading aloud. The characters, and the humans they help, stimulate discussion on individual behavior, hopefully assisting the reader, or listener, to look inside themselves for answers. If you find the world an unhappy place, start by changing yourself. The Wonderful World of Corkle may help youngsters deal with self control, positive goal setting, and in understanding why certain behaviors hurt them, and how to make changes. This unique work is written with humor, insight, wisdom, and love. It combines a descriptive narrative and positive messages, with lighthearted imagery to present a creative examination of the human character. Written primarily for children, it may appeal to the child in all of us.

About the Author

Betty L. Myer & Illustrated by Ellis Goodson

Betty L. Myer was born and grew up in Camarillo, California. Her hobbies include sewing, music, storyteller, and writing. She has written briefly for the home sewing market. The Wonderful World Of Corkle is her first book. The mother of a daughter and a son, grandmother of four, great grandmother of six, Betty has always enjoyed working with youngsters. The cookie jar in her kitchen is well known among the little ones that know her and call her Grandma Betty. Over the years Betty has served as Brownie Mom, Cub Scout Mom, and Sunday School teacher. The Wonderful World of Corkle was originally written as a series of poems for the amusement of her children. Ellis Goodson, illustrator, was hired to create the illustrations when it was decided to publish the poems. Recently it was suggested that she expand it into a book for other children to enjoy. Betty is married to Walter Myer, her high school sweetheart. They have the only child yet at home, Sammy, a little poodle.
