Book Details

Tempest reflects on human relationships as we journey life’s path. Although set within a military backdrop, similar interpersonal relationships could just as easily have been experienced in a business large or small, or even a small town. War, oversimplified, is a contest of wills. People skills are not common to all of us. We each can react quite differently to the same set of circumstances. We need to be true to our convictions and yet objectively open to change. This is part of the unending human learning process. The story, recalled with humor as well as frustration, demonstrates the manipulation of power and the subtle grooming of a population toward the will of the governing. It has been said that “Youth is wasted on the young.” As we become older, we often feel “If I only knew then what I know now, I would have been able to handle many of my life’s experiences differently.”

About the Author

Charles Coffin

“Tuck” (Charles H. Coffin, III), is a lifelong outdoor enthusiast who loves all the varying landscapes and the rich diverse cultures this world has to offer. His earliest travels were with his father canoeing and camping in the Canadian Boundary Waters north of Minnesota. He and his bride Katie (of almost fifty years) have trekked in the Peruvian Andes and white water rafted in the same region. They have enjoyed river cruises in Russia and Europe, each of them having done extensive traveling outside the United States before they met. Their proudest achievements are their two children Chad and Christina. Tuck’s professional career has been in the industrial world of electronics manufacturing. Tuck attended Public Grade Schools, graduated from the Morristown Prep School where he lettered in Football, Ice Hockey, and Track, and graduated from Texas A&M University as a Distinguished Student. He enlisted as an officer in the U.S. Navy, serving from November 1967 to July 1970. His tour of duty included one and a half years in and around the waters of Vietnam.
