Here’s a bit of action from Wayne Kimbrough in the story “All About the Bees”:
“To impress my friends that I could handle venomous insects with relative impunity, I led a group of youngsters down to my hive and popped off the lid,” Kimbrough said. “However, the bees proceeded to show me how fallible I was.”
A bee flew up and stung him on the upper lip. He quickly replaced the lid, trying to act nonchalant, then proceeded back up the hill with his friends. Once inside the church, a girl yelled that his lip was huge; and within minutes his whole face had swollen.
“It was so bad that I could hardly see out of my eyes and once I got home, my mother saw me and screamed,” Kimbrough said. Of course, this incident did not deter Kimbrough, but he did wear a veil after that experience.
Kimbrough might have been hurt, but that bee sting was temporary compared to some real pain people feel. For encouragement, this collection features a unique array of motivational articles. Here’s an excerpt from “Somebody Out There Needs You”:
"Unfortunately, our naked eyes cannot pierce through to the hearts of hurting people. They are all around us in every age, color, shape, size, and economic background. Some are draped in the latest fashionable clothes and drive the sportiest cars, while others pretend to be content in more humble lifestyles. Yet, all share a common pain of feeling lost and depressed . . ."
"So, when you make it through your struggle, take that re-braided rope of hope and extend it to another sister or brother. Then, heighten your spiritual radar so you can more keenly discern others who need help – before it is too late."
