Book Excerpt

The weekend went by and all was well. Yousef sat in his uncles couch, this time upright as he waited for the phone to ring. He still had not left his uncles house though he did venture outside a few times to take in some air and to calm down. He was excited to hear from Capt. Loswell. He was also very anxious about the coming events. He worried that the terrorist would not believe he was there to interview their leader. He knew they would hurt him severely if they found out he was a spy. It was a serious risk that occurred to him over the weekend, now that he had time to think about what he was going to attempt. It humored him how he had not thought about the danger during the discussion with Capt. Loswell. The stupidity of human nature. Always in pursuit, not truly considering the future. Never really considering the consequences. “Well, I’m not a good negotiator.” he thought to himself. Yousef wondered if he still would have volunteered if he had thought about the danger of such a mission first. With this thought came the anger. The anger about what had happened. The loss of his wife. His child. He thought then, that it was worth the risk. At the very worst he would see Nayla again. Even if it wasn’t going to be in this life. At least he could tell her he was sorry and that he missed her. He missed her so much it hurt to even think about it.
