About the Author

Janie Smith

Janie Smith is Ray Smith’s niece. Working her way through college, she received a BA with an English major at the University of Connecticut at Storrs and then embarked on a 500 mile horseback journey. She has taught High School English, bred, raised and trained Thoroughbred racehorses, was part owner of a company, Collectors Workshop, which invented and produced magic apparatus, was a free-lance reporter for the Ruidoso Free Press in NM, and most importantly was Ray Smith’s confidant. Over the course of three years and many cocktail hour sessions this book was created. Janie presently lives on a small ranch in White Oaks, New Mexico with her three horses, two cats and a most special Standard Poodle dog, Madonna.
