Much has been written about the conflicts between Native Americans and the European settlers who came to this country, but little before the foreigners arrived. With information that the author has gathered over the years, and using what he can attribute only to mental pictures from Wakan Tanka, The Great Spirit, this story gradually came together to paint a picture of life in North America almost three centuries ago.

While this is an adventure, it is also a touching love story. It revolves around the ambitions of leaders from different Lakota bands, to replace the deceased chief of the whole tribe, but is centered on the family of a young warrior who leads one of those bands.

Though this story is fiction, the author has made an attempt to match it to the time, place, and conditions where there is little recorded history.
