Book Excerpt

When a person experiences fear, it is usually temporary. The fear associated with Alzheimer's disease is a continuous struggle with fear that no one can see but it's victims who are incapable of describing it because of their memory desertion.

Mama Senie stacked flour cans in front of the door at night to keep prowlers out. One night, Buck Hannah came to her house and rapped on the door demanding that she open the door "in the name of the law."....Mama Senie also kept an old broom handle. She pointed out the window at night to scare away unwanted visitors. It looked like a shotgun barrel. While Buck was banging on the door.......she pointed the broom handle out of the window and challenged him to kick the door in. Buck Hannah never bother her anymore.
