My Living LEGACY

THE WORLD IS A VAST CLASSROOM and much of what we learn is through our experiences. As every parent and grandparent knows, we strive to pass along what we’ve learned to the next generation, in the hopes they will have a successful life. But how do we define success? Success in life isn’t simply about having more money, higher status, a bigger house, or more stuff. Real success is about finding and maintaining balance between all of the areas of our life, facing problems and preparing for the future. This book explains the simple truth about living a better life. Broken into 11 key areas, it features 173 specific lessons, each in 10 words or less. The eleven areas include Life, Money, Marriage, Health, Work, Children, Friends, Family, Faith, Leisure and Learning. From the high school or college graduate, to the 20- or 30-somethings, or even the sandwich generation, this book will serve as a practical touchstone in every season of life.

Book Excerpt

The lessons we learn in life come from many different places. Our first teachers are our parents. They teach us a lot about life. School comes next; this is where we learn academic subjects, as well as, how to interact with a wide variety of people and situations. When we finish school we enter the real world and begin to learn; from our successes, our failures, people we work with, people we play with, books we read, etc. Many people call this the “college of hard knocks”. Each of the lessons in the book were learned through a combination of study, pain, experience and experimentation. If you can learn them, understand them, and apply them early in your life, it will save you a lot of time, frustration and pain.
