About the Author

Elaine McMillen

Elaine wrote and published her 1st cookbook, "Come to your Cooking Senses" in 2003. She published her 2nd book, "A Long Hot Simmer," a collection of soups with sandwiches and salads in 2020. She also worked on several publications including the Humane Society of Harris County Cookbook, "Bone Appetit", the Junior League of Columbus Magazine, "League Life" and their cookbooks - and did layouts for programs for the Perrier Tennis Tournament, the Humane Society event, "Puttin' on the Dog" and others. She loves to travel, read, cook, eat and entertain. She loves animals and served on the Humane Society of Harris County Board of Directors in Pine Mountain, Georgia for several years, while she chaired their major fundraiser for 6 years. She and her husband opened a restaurant in Pine Mountain, Georgia called "153 Main Bistro" in 2015. Elaine was born and grew up Macon, Georgia , married Michael C. McMillen from Amityville, New York, who she met in collage. They live in Pine Mountain, Georgia and have 3 children and 7 gorgeous and brillant grandchildren - son to be eight! She is gratefully in remission since 2010 from acute myeloid leukemia! (Thanks to a merciful God, wonderful doctors and many prayers!) She lovely dedicates this book to them and to her inspiration and mother, Grace King Tribble, "96 amazing" years old! ... And this is Hannah, their English setter and loving companion!
