A Banquet Feast of short stories with each Teller of Tales vying for the most precious prize of all.
Lord Khangard is hosting a banquet feast to bring together all of those spirit beings who upon their death he has raised to his mountaintop eyrie much as the Valkyries of old raised the noble and brave battlefield warrior to Valhalla. To provide entertainment and to entice a gathering he and his wife Lady Khangard have promised a “Prize of Prizes” for the best story with the telling of tales to be stretched out over many days of feasting. Among those who we hear tell their tale are many familiar faces we’ve met in Soyala’s Saga: The Red Queen – oldest and bravest of the seven sisters who were queen; The Emerald Empress – youngest and most beautiful of the seven; The Jeweled Skeleton – an innocent maiden whose eternal slumber was interrupted by those who adorned her sleeping bones with a crass display of precious stones and jewels. Then too we hear the tales of the mighty warbirds of the seven sisters: The deadly Lionkillers and the fleet footed Cloud Chasers. We are told the story of how the bustling inn of The Turquoise Kingdom - The Widow’s Walk - came into being sturdily built from mighty pillars fashioned from the masts of The Scarlet Queen – the mightiest ship ever to set sail. We are told too stories of loves and betrayals all leading up to The Prize of Prizes.
