The Long Journey

Forged by the fires
that flair deep within
you feel what you're missing
and want to begin,

but the path is uncharted
so you're scared to depart --
to start the long journey
that may break your heart.

Book Excerpt

My Attention

She got my Attention --
but I want it back
since now I have found I'm
completely off track

as women like her seem
to just have the knack
for making you feel what
you fear that you lack.

You Do

You say, "I do." --
then hope that you
know what it is you've done,

as you don't get a warranty
and there are no refunds.

The Answer

I wouldn't take "No" for an answer --
so she said, "how about 'Go away';
'You're gross and obscene';
'Get out or I'll scream';
or 'I'm calling the cops if you stay.'"

Thus, in spite of my being quite charming,
she just won't admit she's enthralled;
so I asked her if she'd reconsider
and let me take "No" after all.

Fragilities

Fragilities
she won't show me,
like mines, will lay in wait

in places that I least expect --
then blow up in my face.

Hoping She's Not

She just might be right,
but I'm hoping she's not
as I've started to argue
and, thus, I have got

my pride and my manhood
out there on the line,
and she'd like nothing more than
to show me that I'm

bull-headed and foolish
like all other men --
so, now my whole gender
I'm forced to defend.

Our Dreams

We will follow our Dreams --
as we want to keep growing;
though we're not all that sure
that they know where they're going.

Shine On

Shine on in the afterglow --
you are the star;
you steal the show;

though there are demons down below,
tonight just laugh and let them go.

Tomorrow they will reappear.
You'll see them lurking in your mirror,

but take tonight for all it is
and give me an impassioned kiss.
