SOLO GARDENER VENTURES INTO THE UNKNOWN

Love adventure, low-cost travel, plants and gardening? Discover how to combine these passions through pre-arranged work exchanges. Take a leap of faith and become bitten by the travel bug as you experience new customs and different ways of living in far off lands. As the journey begins and continues, travel through the spectacular landscapes of Australia, France and Scotland, while enjoying the stunning pictorial tour of 195 color photos that vividly captures the essence of everyday life and simpler lifestyles. When one door of opportunity leads to another over the course of almost three years, this enterprising gardener guides you through timeless country sides, ancient villages and pristine formal and not so formal gardens. The wondrous places visited and charming people encountered have life-changing effects during the joy of self discovery. Impressive gardens and inspirational designs will make you want to run to your nearest gardening center, while the adventure takes you away from the every day. A creative narrative of a single woman’s unlikely middle-life experiences incites the gardener in all of us, but you do not have to be a gardener to appreciate the beauty and the possibilities during this tale of safe solo travel.

About the Author

Kathy Jo Barber

A lifelong gardener, Kathy Jo’s gardening career began in the remoteness of Fairbanks, Alaska and has continued in California and Oregon where she currently resides. A Master Gardener specializing in herbs for over twenty years, she expanded her knowledge and skills by becoming a certified Horticulture Therapist. After raising three children, going through a divorce, and selling everything she owned, she stumbled upon adventure, travel and romance, at an older age than most, through her gardening passion. A former non-traveler she began having extraordinary adventures and experiences around the world.
