Betrayal, Justice and Second Chances

Forged By Betrayal, a Montvale Novel. Not much is missed by the ‘locals’ of the small town of Montvale. ‘Locals’ refers to the descendants of those that the founding father, Jerimiah Ezekial Montvale allowed to live on his vast 1500-acre estate. Those that were deemed worthy enough were gifted with a one-acre plot of land, next to his 100-acre Lake. Jerimiah was a strict man, except with his wife. When she wanted fresh fruit and vegetables, he made sure a grocery store was built. Same with a floral shop, bakery, Post office, Maintenance Garage, Stable, etc. All manned by people that soon became known as ‘locals’. Whatever his lovely bride needed, or wanted, he fulfilled. Montvale ‘locals’ knew most everything that went on in the small town. Not much stayed hidden for long. When one of their own is betrayed in the most hideous of ways, the ‘locals’ back her up. Surviving betrayal and the justice system is one thing. Overcoming the pain and hurt it can cause, takes time and trust. Giving yourself a second chance at love is even harder to accept. When Patricia Johnson Marsh faced a jury for a crime she did not commit, her savior was there, Matthew Dodd. The same savior that helped carry her books to school, the one she car pooled with when they went to college. The one that helped her begin her Publishing Business. The one she should have married.

About the Author

LaRain Vickers

LaRain started writing to keep her mind off things she had no control over and found she enjoyed it. She says, “My mind can only truly concentrate on one thing at a time.” She prefers to concentrate on a recipe of romance with a heavy sprinkling of suspense, and mystery. She blends them together to create twists and turns in her plots that keep the reader turning page after page and wanting more. Rainy, along with her service dog Chipper, and her husband Bradd, live on a 400-acre beef and forestry farm in upstate New York. Her love of nature is often woven into her novels and in her original stained-glass dimensional art work, which has been shown in several galleries.
