I live on the edge of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, an amazing place where an inland delta turns the dry Kalahari sands into a wildlife paradise. Within this area there are many communities living a traditional rural lifestyle, however with development moving in at a rapid rate this situation is changing fast. I have been watching this for many years and wanted to write a story about African children growing up in both worlds using some of the old myths and beliefs to create a fantacy world. It is also a story about environmental issues particularly water.I spend a lot of my time working with communities and see the problems development can bring. However in this modern world it is something we cannot escape and I think a better understanding in children will help to bring about more of a sustainable balance. Enna Neru
