The Shocking Legacy of Cultural Segregation

Isiani Town has a unique and important ambition: they want an indigenous Catholic priest. A very special young man, Okwuchi, has been chosen for this honor. Although he has some doubts, he is willing to go to seminary, even though his heart yearns for the beautiful and intelligent Chioma. But she is doubly forbidden. Not only must he remain celibate as a priest, he must avoid her because she is an outcast, a member of the feared and hated Osu community, while Okwuchi is freeborn. The town’s determination to keep them apart intertwines with a shocking series of events that will bring to light the horror of caste prejudice and the folly of hatred between communities. Rich with detail and beautifully characterized, Cloud of Fate brings to vivid life the culture clashes of sub-Saharan Nigeria in a compelling story that will keep you spellbound.
