Book Details

The resurrection of the original book published in 1865 is both for the historian and genealogist. The history of the 130th New York Volunteers starts in July of 1862 with the call to create an army adequate to the task of hurling back the resistless tide of rebellion. It ends on April 9th 1865 at Appomattox Court House with the surrender of Lee and his entire army. Especially for those searching for their Civil War ancestor is the roster with detailed data of each persons company, rank and service. Updated with the addition of historical documents, letters of Corporal John K. Barrager, newspaper clipping and numerous pictures makes this book a treasure and pleasure to read. A must for both the historian and genealogist.

This book is a reflection of men from various backgrounds in Western New York who answered Lincoln's call when the country needed them the most. We learn how they left for the seat of war as infantry, how they fought, out-maneuvered the Confederates as cavalry, and lived to see home once again.
