Book Details

Life was good until an accident claimed their father’s life.

And Then There Were Five is the story of a grief-stricken family who had to rebuild their lives and learn to cope with the loss of their father. The Woods came from hardscrabble roots, but their family ties were strong and they were happy. After their father’s tragic death, his children began compiling this compelling memoir not only to honor his memory but also to preserve precious memories for the youngest two children, who did not get a chance to know their father. The collaboration drew the siblings even closer and helped them deal with the loss of their mother in 2012. It’s a loving tribute as well as a fascinating snapshot of life during the lean war years and the post-Depression era.
