Book Details

Searing flashbacks to a dysfunctional family and the path towards hope.

Sammy Lee journeys back to his childhood home in the Boston suburbs during the days leading up to the death of his father. He’s immediately thrust into an epic battle over the fate of his father and the future of the Lee Estate. Spurred by the mêlée, Sammy finally faces the episodes of domestic violence in his past. Present day events are interspersed with chapters unearthing agonizing moments from his childhood with ironic humor. He returns from a self-imposed exile to deal with the lies that swirl through the family and he searches for the root of his father’s abusive behavior. In the end he makes peace with the memory of his father and finds renewed hope as he finally starts his own family. Throughout, he probes the intangible, unspoken restlessness that lives beneath the surface. Based on actual events, Affidavit of Objections is a gritty memoir about a dysfunctional upper middle class family with an abusive and manipulative alcoholic patriarch.
