Did Joshua Really Stop the Sun and Moon?
An astounding example of God using the laws of science to accomplish what He wants has recently been uncovered. For years doubters have pointed to Joshua 10:12-13 to show that some events portrayed in the Bible are scientifically impossible: "And he said in the sight of Israel, 'Sun, stand thou still upon Gideon; and thou, moon, in the valley of Ajalon.' And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed..."
Even to a believer that's pretty amazing! Is it actually possible for the sun and moon to stand still without our entire solar system collapsing? Well, just think about it for a moment. How do we observe the sun? By the light it emits. And look at this headline from a recent newspaper article:
"Light Can be Halted Briefly, Scientists Say."
The article went on to report, "Physicists say they have brought light to a complete halt for a fraction of a second and then sent it on its way."
So if scientists can halt light - even for a few hundredths of a second - without the solar system collapsing, then surely God can halt light for much longer period and make it appear the sun and moon had stood still.

Oh, no! My Great Great...Grandfather Was a Fish!!!
There are several aspects of evolutionary theory that have always bothered me - not the least of which is the thought that my great great...grandfather was an ape. Or worse yet, a fish! I just like to think my ancestors were a lot like me, except without an Ipod or cell phone. Actually, I don't have an Ipod but it seems like everyone else does.
Another thing that bothers me is, if we've evolved from apes, why are there so many apes still around? Shouldn't they have evolved also? I know that some species do evolve - birds beaks get longer or shorter; some animals get faster over time. But that's evolution within a species. Just because a fish's fins could get smaller over time doesn't mean they could also grow arms and legs and the brain of a human (Okay, so I may be on shaky ground with that last one).
Another point about evolution is that everyone assumes life came about because of evolution, yet Darwin himself assumed that life had already begun before evolution took over. Evolution doesn't explain the beginning of life, and Darwin didn't even try. He assumed the first thing living, and then he tried to show how one living thing could be transformed into another.
And now an Associated Press article shoots another hole in the evolutionary theory. It states that the previous idea that the 'oldest species in our family tree, Homo habilis, evolved into Homo erectus, which then became human, Homo sapiens.' But recent discoveries have shown Homo habilis and Homo erectus lived at the same time in Kenya. 'That pokes holes in the chief theory of man's early evolution - that one of those species evolved from the other.'
Isn't it interesting, the article refers to these species as the 'oldest species in our family tree,' even though a link to humans has never been found. And, even though this link has been disproven, these species are still referred to as 'human ancestors.'
The fact is it's been 150 years since Darwin first proposed his theory of evolution, yet the famous missing link has never been found. It hasn't even been found between birds and dinasaurs. A New York Times article dated August 5, 2004 reported that "Scientists determined that Archaeopteryx, the earliest known bird...had the neurological and structural adaptations necessary for flight...Archaeopteryx is considered a prime transitional species in the evolution of some reptiles, probably dinasaurs, into today's birds." The article went on to say, "The new research suggests that birds probably started flying millions of years earlier than scientists previously thought. It is just that fossils of those first flying birds, predecessors of Archaeotperyx, have never been found." What??? Never been found? One hundred and fifty years of evolutionary theory and they've never been found? Maybe it's time to re-think the theory of evolution!
