Happy, happy, happy. This day and time we hear songs about it, see shirts that say it, and on occasion we may even see billboards of people being happy. This is great. However it’s not always true. One major problem with the world today is that people are not happy. There are folks in this world walking around looking for ways to become happier. The problem is that they don’t know how. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary happy is the feeling of pleasure and enjoyment because of your life or situation; showing or causing feelings of pleasure and enjoyment, pleased or glad about a particular situation, event, etc. Yes all of that is true. The only problem is that the definition doesn’t give us directions on how to become a happier person. After working close to 20 years in the Human Service Healthcare field, in a variety of settings from Mental Health Counseling to the Dialysis world, I’ve become infatuated with what I call the “Happy Person.” “The Happy Person” is one who stays happy no matter how much the odds are stacked against them. Yes it’s true there are individuals walking this earth that remain happy no matter the situation. I’ve found that most are from the older generation, those who have already lived a full life. Because of my infatuation with “The Happy Person” over the years, I’ve always took time out to learn from these lovely individuals of different races, genders, ages, backgrounds and religions, and instead of keeping the information to myself, I’ve decided to share it with the world, this is 50 Steps To Happy.
