Saul ShocketBetween the years 1967 and 2005, Saul earned six World Powerlifting Championships, eight National Powerlifting Championships, and established Seventy World, National, and American Powerlifting Records in both open and masters age divisions. As a lifetime drug-free lifter, Saul attained his elite ranking in the 148 lb, 165 lb, and 181 lb classes. A strong voice for drug-free athletes, Saul chaired the Massachusetts, and then Connecticut Drug-Free Powerlifting Associations (ADFPA, ADFPF). 1988- Inducted into the Rhode Island Jewish Athletes Hall of Fame… 2013- Inducted into the Connecticut Powerlifting Hall of Fame… Former Director of Strength & Conditioning, Brazilian Olympic Ice Federation… *Strength & Conditioning Coach to Seniors, Youth, College, Olympic, and NFL, NBA, NHL, PGA Professional Athletes… While establishing an international powerlifting reputation, Saul was also busy pursuing a music career. Though he played and recorded with many well known artists as a tenor/soprano sax sideman, he was most involved with the BOSTON JAZZ QUARTET (BJQ),which was led by keyboardist/composer Michael Garvan. In the eighties Saul retired from an active music career to pursue lifting competitions, coaching, and gym ownership. Saul resides on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, with wife Alice Beth.
