Product description...

What Is Independent Living Really Like?

As the Baby Boomer generation ages, our population of retired adults is becoming exponentially larger. Whether it’s a parent, a relative, or you yourself—most of us have preconceived ideas about what it means to move to an Independent Living Community. Come Home to Aston is a memoir about the vivid, engaging lives of the residents at Aston Gardens, from resident Barbara Maltby. If you think that an Independent Living facility means loss of freedom, Barbara’s experiences will change your perspective. She will draw you into the day-to-day adventures of Aston Gardens, from travel to activities, from meeting new friends to discovering famous neighbors. Barbara also shares “Thoughts of an Old Woman”—musings and lessons learned from a long life, and reflects on the end of life. This warm, candid exploration of the benefits and challenges of post-retirement living transitions is an entertaining and valuable resource for retirees and families assessing the best and most enjoyable options for the future.
