About the Author

Matthew B. Vernier

When I was growing up in Michigan, near the Motor City, I learned that the auto industries were very important to our economy. It did not take long for me to realize that most of the job opportunities would come from automobile related companies. I started working for a company in 1979 that made copper inductors that were used for heat-treating automobile parts. At first, the coil-building was difficult and frustrating. But, as time passed and I gained experience, the job became enjoyable. It was a skilled trade that I enjoyed, and I wanted to become the best coil-builder in the USA.
