He was lying face down, his arm splayed in directions that arms shouldn't go. She winced looking at him, whispering "Ow" under her breath. His short, spiked brown hair was specked with dried blood, but that wasn't what caught her attention. "What the--" His khaki pants were down around his feet, exposing a naked, bloody sun-burned butt. A trail of dark red ran from the left shoulder of his pale blue Polo shirt and across his back. A choir of flies swarmed around him, humming what she imagined was a gospel tune. "Hey, buddy," she nudged him with the toe of her boot. "You dead?"

She lives in Reno, Nevada, with Marty, her husband of 49 years and her dog, an all-around American Canine (mutt) Lacy. She enjoys spending time with her grandkids, reading, and of course, writing.
