“I was one of seven children struggling to survive in a family with a bipolar father. The goal was to maintain one’s sanity and somehow escape alive mentally and emotionally as deep depression and suicide came to define our family dynamic. After a B.A. in Sociology I worked as a Social Worker for several years until I became the unwilling victim of a Rodney King-type beating. Convinced by legal representation that the system was corrupt and a case was ‘unwinnable’ against the police, I failed to stand up for what is right…until now. Now I speak out against this injustice and for the injustices of all those who do not have a voice. We must know that standing up for what is right is required. And the Power of Kindness to prevail for what is good and what is right is foreordained.” And for me “will” is everything. It holds the key to survival and it is limitless; or, it is limited only by one’s paying attention to it, one’s application of one’s energies and focus to achieve a desired goal or end result. In Spanish: “Más hace el que quiere que el que puede.” In French: “Vouloir c’est pouvoir.” The power of one’s will combined with the power of love and kindness is truly monumental. We need to bring these forces together actively at the conscious level, make them part of our way of life, the way that we relate to one another for the good of all.
