The Ramon Sosa Story

Ramon Sosa, a successful businessman and former pro-boxer, thought he had found the perfect woman.

The devoted father of three, committed to rebuilding his life after his first divorce, met Maria De Lourdes Sosa (aka Lulu) while out dancing at a salsa club in Houston, Texas. She took his breath away. They began a whirlwind romance and married a year later.

Shortly after the wedding Lulu, a once doting and loving wife began to change. She was now a U.S. citizen with her grandiose sights set on the American Dream for her and her children. Those plans no longer included Ramon. She wanted it all; the house, the business and the money and she would do everything in her power to get it, including having Ramon murdered.

“I Walked On My Own Grave” tells the harrowing story of how Lulu, after trying to destroy Ramon’s life for months, plotted with two “hitmen” to have her husband killed. Her carefully orchestrated plan would have been successful, were it not for the quick thinking of a brave young man who Ramon had once mentored. Little did he know one day his protégé would return the favor by saving his life.

About the Author

Ramon Sosa

Author Ramon Sosa has been a fighter all his life, both in and out of the boxing ring. Sosa, born June 1, 1967 in San Juan, Puerto Rico spent the first five years of his young life on the island and describes himself as a proud Latino. His mother and father raised him and his three siblings to appreciate the core values of the vibrant culture. They clung to the solid principles, even after his father moved the family to Brooklyn, New York in search of a better life. It was in Brooklyn where, at 7-years old, Ramon developed an interest in boxing, the sweet science. Thanks to innate skill and a genuine passion for the sport he excelled almost immediately. He competed in over 100 amateur fights. Ramon later moved to Texas, where he began a professional boxing career. Ramon soon discovered he was no match for the unscrupulous and ruthless culture pervasive in the industry. His love for boxing was surpassed only by his devotion to the young men and women he met along the way who looked up to him for his leadership and training. Their earnest appreciation inspired him to leave the pro-boxing scene and open Young Prospects Boxing, a non-profit organization specializing in training amateur and professional boxers. In 2010 he opened Woodlands Boxing and Fitness with his now ex-wife, Maria De Lourdes Sosa, aka “Lulu”. The marriage ended after Ramon discovered Lulu had orchestrated a murder-for-hire plot against him. She was arrested and imprisoned. Ramon used the experience to become a powerful voice for men who are in manipulative and abusive relationships, and believe they have no way out. Today, Ramon Sosa is a sought after public speaker on the subject. His compelling story garnered worldwide attention. The harrowing tale has been featured on ESPN E:60, CBS 48 Hours, Fuji TV in Japan, Univision, Telemundo and Inside Edition, as well as in major publications and social media platforms. Ramon hopes his experience will help men and women everywhere identify and have the courage to speak out about all forms of abuse. The father of three children (Mitchell, Cris, and Mia), currently resides in Houston, Texas.
