How does Outskirts Press compare?

1.

Keep 100% of your rights

You should always retain all your rights. The very first sentence of our contract states: “Author retains 100% of the rights and copyright licenses to the manuscript and all other materials submitted to Outskirts Press, Inc.”

Other self publishers keep your rights for as long as 7 years (and they even get the right to publish your NEXT book, too). Be sure you keep all your rights by publishing with Outskirts Press.

2.

Keep 100% of your royalties

Only with Outskirts Press can you set your own retail price, author discount, and Price Plan. You receive 100% of your author royalties. The higher you set your retail price, the higher your profit.

Other self publishers pay you as little as 10%, 35% or 50%. Check their websites and you'll see what we mean. Be sure to earn 100% of the profit of every book sold by publishing with Outskirts Press.

Look at that! You're making MORE money on a lower retail price. Imagine how much more you'd make if you set the retail price higher. You can, and 100% of those increased profits go to you.

3.

Unlimited wholesale and retail availability

Outskirts Press books are available for order through online retail sales channels like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, and via BOTH major U.S. wholesalers (Ingram and Baker & Taylor).

Some other self publishers only offer Ingram distribution if you relinquish 60% (!) to the wholesalers. That's 5% more than the standard maximum of 55%, which means 5% less for you. Be sure to keep 100% of the control over your discounting through Baker & Taylor AND Ingram by publishing with Outskirts Press.

4.

Additional marketing support and services

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if marketing a book was as easy as publishing one? Now it is! Our comprehensive suite of optional marketing services, promotional materials, and publicity products are the answer to your book marketing needs.

Other self publishers completely forget about you once your book is published. Be sure to receive ongoing marketing assistance and promotional services by publishing with Outskirts Press.

5.

Publishing imprint and ISBN flexibility

Do you want the ultimate in self-publishing flexibility? Our Diamond, Pearl, Ruby, and Sapphire packages all include unique ISBNs, which are required for wholesale and retail sales. However, if you prefer to submit your own ISBN and publish under your own publishing imprint, our Diamond and Pearl packages offer options to accommodate those needs, too. In either case, you keep 100% of the rights to your work.

Other self publishers force you to use their ISBN, even if you prefer to use your own. Be sure to have access to complete ISBN flexibility by publishing with Outskirts Press.

6.

High-quality book design

Imagine a full-service self-publisher where quality book design is included. Your dreams are a reality at Outskirts Press. Depending upon the type of book you are publishing, our designers will format the interior according to industry best practices for a high-quality presentation that keeps your book from screaming “self-published!”

Other self publishers require that you format your own book and the quality of it will depend upon your formatting proficiency. Be sure to receive a high-quality interior by publishing with Outskirts Press.

And the covers? Wow! They say a picture is worth a thousand words. If so, our amazing custom covers are a book unto themselves. Take a look....

7.

Complete print-run flexibility (1 to 1000s)

With unlimited wholesale availability, printing, and fulfillment, we will handle all wholesale orders directly that come from sales channels like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Ingram, etc. When we receive a wholesale or retail order directly, we will print the book, send it to the customer, and then record your royalty. You never have to order any books unless you want to. Of course, if you want to order books, you always receive your below-wholesale price in quantities of just 5 or more. And if you buy more, you save more.

Outskirts Press Authors in the News...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In the wake of new stories about traditionally published authors earning “six figure advances” Outskirts Press author Gang Chen earns six figures in six months and keeps all his rights, which means he can earn another six figures in another six months, long after a traditional advance would be gone.

Self Publishing Author Earns Over $100,000
in Just Six Months with Outskirts Press

Denver, CO and Irvine, CA – Outskirts Press, the fastest-growing full-service self publishing and book marketing company, today announced that one of its authors has earned over $100,000 in author royalties in six short months.

Gang Chen, the self published author of Planting Design Illustrated and LEED AP Exam Guide, received a royalty check in the amount of $77,611.88 for books sold between January-March. This follows a royalty check of $33,679.56 that Chen received from Outskirts Press for books sold the previous October-December.

"Earning $111,000 in six months is an amazing accomplishment," Outskirts Press CEO Brent Sampson commented. "Of course, publishing with Outskirts Press certainly helps. We extend heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Chen, and also want to thank him for graciously granting us permission to publicize his success."

Gang Chen, an expert in the field of architecture, with a master’s degree from USC and over 20 years of professional experience responded, "I’m in the process of publishing my next book in the LEED Exam Guide series through Outskirts Press, along with a book on architecture, so I hope to break this record soon."

After contacting hundreds of traditional publishers for his first book Planting Design Illustrated, Chen finally landed a deal with one major publisher, only to discover that he was dissatisfied with the substantial revisions they were suggesting. He promptly cancelled the traditional publishing contract and decided to publish the book himself. He compared various publishing options and chose Outskirts Press. "Their services do not end after the book is published," Chen stated. "They continue to provide excellent marketing advice, as well."

Outskirts Press understands that marketing is a huge part of an author’s success and, unlike most self-publishing firms, offer promotional advice and marketing services extending for years after publication. States CEO Brent Sampson, “Successful authors have the potential to separate themselves from the pack by publishing with a full-service, custom publishing company that provides support before, during, and after publication.”
