About the Author

Vincent Evans with Dick Beyer

ABOUT THE AUTHOR – Growing up near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in the 1950s, Vincent Evans remembers the images flickering from the small black and white television set his parents borrowed from family – baseball players, American Bandstand, Mickey Mouse Club, Superman, The Today Show, and a spectacle known as professional wrestling. Early television infl uenced Evans as he pursued grounding in education, sports, music and writing, but authoring a book about a college football star and professional wrestling icon never entered his radar screen, until he met Dick Beyer. To Evans, it was the perfect story, the right time and the ideal circumstance. After earning a bachelor’s degree from King’s College and a listing in ‘Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges’, Evans obtained his master’s degree from the State University of New York at Buff alo. He began his professional career as a psychotherapist and medical social worker with home health and hospice organizations. Years later, he repositioned his skill set for a move into management and marketing. Evans led several health care organizations in New York and Pennsylvania, presented nationally and internationally on marketing and management, and wrote on a variety of business issues in regional publications and trade journals including the American Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care. Evans served as editor for the book ‘History of the Anchor Bar’ (backstory of the famous Buff alo wings) by Ivano Toscani in 2003. From 2000 to 2010, he was biographer, offi cer and board member for the Greater Buff alo Sports Hall of Fame, and for several years contributed as a freelance writer to Living Prime Time Magazine in Western New York, for which he wrote articles and interviewed sports celebrities, business leaders and other high profile personalities. Evans, who is Vice President with Hospice of the Valley in San Jose, California, and his wife Patrice, BSN, MBA, and a health care administrator, maintain residences in northern California and Orlando, Florida.
