Book Details

Words can be hugely powerful.....

The Harmattan wind scorches across Nigeria, and an old man lies dying. His community gathers to pay its respects; their haunting songs echoing in the warm twilight. Around his bed his family is gathered and they listen as he speaks his last words. Yet in the face of death this old man doesn’t talk of regrets, neither does he talk of petty grievances, instead he talks softly about life; how to survive, how to be happy and how to achieve self-respect.

‘A Worthy Legacy’ is a book far greater than its sum of parts; a moral guide that does not preach or command, but simply presents a code for life with a confidence and credibility that allows the reader to relate to and apply its philosophies.

About the Author

Tomi Akinyanmi

Tomi (aka Ibitomilade) discovered her enthusiasm for writing at a very early age, and has been writing for over twenty years.

Though poetry was her first love, Tomi was inspired by personal experience and observation of everyday life to create “A Worthy Legacy” as her first book. She drew on her experience as a published poet, as well as the influence of her traditional African Yoruba background.

Tomi's works include “Voices in the Wind” which won the 1st place in the inaugural Voices Anthology Contest sponsored by The Voices Anthology Network. Some of her poems have also been featured online and in print. Publications in which her poems have appeared include Free Focus (August 2004), Northern Stars (May/June 2005 and July/Aug 2005), and Soul Fountain (vol #24 winter 2005).
