Gene was born and raised in Wynnewood, PA on the Main Line outside of Philadelphia and by the age of 30 had travelled throughout much of the U.S. After graduate school at The University of Texas at Austin he moved to Denver, where he worked as a petroleum geologist for Exxon. Gene left the energy sector in 1986, for a career in the investment industry, where he has worked for the last 23 years.
