Laurie is a woman who falls prisoner to a Middle Eastern man named Sahir. Not only does he subject Laurie to extreme physical and mental abuse, but he also manipulates the loopholes in the justice system to get away with his evil schemes. Sahir will stop at nothing to keep his grasp on Laurie. He even goes as far as committing an unspeakable act involving his own children. As a result, Laurie is left feeling helpless to the point of wanting to die. All she can do is hold on to the small hope that there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
Lisa Brassard Mayer was unfortunately a victim of domestic violence. It's her hope that by writing this book she will help many other women in similar situations and also educate others about the seriousness of domestic violence. She presently lives in Arizona.
